A strong focus on SEO and UX
Every page was built with SEO in mind to cement Retreat East as the industry leader in the East of England for luxury escapes. We combined our web development and design knowledge with our SEO skill sets to provide a responsive, stunning website that also ranks high on Google.
This new brand overhaul supplements the rich product photography, which exhibits well-lit, inviting and relaxing scenes across the website, meaning when people are on the website, a strong sense of luxury is portrayed.
Retreat East is a rejuvenating retreat in the beautiful Suffolk countryside. Escape to the heart of the Suffolk countryside, where they have reimagined the Good Life at their sustainable retreat, regenerated from a former dairy farm.
We worked with Retreat East to propel their new business image forward across the digital space. The emphasis was on showcasing their barn rooms, private events hire, restaurant, and spa in one high-quality, premium-feel website.
We also facilitated the launch of their new online store, which sells a range of locally produced luxury products to help secure another revenue stream. This was alongside the more noticeable larger project of introducing Retreat East Weddings, a complete sub-website which showcases a range of wedding packages.
Our solution
Over several visits to Retreat East, we worked with their team to plan and design a new website prototype focusing on high-quality visuals and an eye-catching hero video on the homepage. Our goal was to really bring across to the website visitors that this website and business offers “Idyllic escapes in the heart of Suffolk”.
Each barn had completely new photography; the restaurant menus were converted from PDFs to a fully digital format to improve SEO. The spa, events, packages, and explore pages were also completely redesigned from scratch to offer a more story-like experience than the previous heavy text-based experience.
Website overhaul
The website branding focuses on a refreshing white and light grey palette with a deep teal primary colour, which portrays trust, nature, relaxation and health. This new brand overhaul supplements the rich product photography, which exhibits well-lit, inviting and relaxing scenes across the website.
The next purpose of the overhaul was also to provide a clean user experience that allows the users to reach their end goal within three or four clicks. The clicks aren’t necessarily the cause of drop-off, but the ease of navigation and presentation is what can frustrate visitors.
Streamline bookings
As Retreat East opened more revenue streamed and offered their customers more booking, there was too many user flows to make a booking. We integrated a single book button to allow people to book a stay, meal, spa treatment, wedding and corporate event all under one dialogue. This increased the click-through rate by 34%.
Our team also worked with Retreat East to deploy the new wedding website which focused on offering luxury weddings in the most perfect and intimate location. All the keyword research and content were focused on capturing high-paying clients predominately from London. Wedding enquiries went from 0 to 36 over a 3 month period and there is now a regular stream of Weddings at Retreat East.
